Recycling Team

By Julie Dietrich

We "wrap" copy paper boxes and label them, then drop them off in teacher classrooms. Then, once a week, we collect the boxes and take them to the paper recycling dumpster outside. We have 8 advisories participating in the team and different groups collect paper on different days (M/H).

Great! The more organized and regimented it is, the more the kids are able to "own" the responsibility. The kids like getting "out of the classroom" and into the hallways. They liked being in charge of the recycling process.

Recipes

By Allison Morton

The girls all brought in food supplies and actual recipes for their favorite snack foods. They only had a microwave to use. Each day one student would show us how to make one of their favorite snack foods. We all copied each others recies and made a little book to keep them in.

The girls really enjoyed this - they have to be reminded about allergies and they are limited to use of a microwave only.
